CHALLENGE:
Sweet Basil has been a Vail institution for more than 40 years and has always been in the same location. Their latest update was also to be an expansion, and the owners were looking for a resolution to some historic issues with the space: acoustics, limited ceiling heights and poor lighting.
SOLUTION:
StudioAtlantis transformed the restaurant through the thoughtful use of texture and shape. Dramatic stone walls, with their surfaces beautifully lit, create a cozy wine-cellar vibe. Curved architectural elements in the floor, bar and ceiling reflect the guest circulation path and help visually define and separate the more social bar area from the more intimate dining area.
